Ms. Zepp has been teaching Band and Strings for almost 25 years. This is her 20th year teaching in Howard County, all of which have been at Bryant Woods Elementary. She previously taught in Carroll County for 5 years, where she grew up. Ms. Zepp began playing flute in 4th grade, but was unsuccessful, so she attempted it again in 7th grade and never looked back. She chose to be a band director so she could advocate for all students who wish to play a musical instrument.
Ms. Zepp received a Bachelor of Music in Education from Shenandoah Conservatory of Music in Winchester, VA, and holds a Master of Music degree in flute performance from the University of Maryland, College Park. Ms. Zepp has served as an adjudicator for All State Band, GT Band, and the Solo and Ensemble Festival in Howard, Carroll and Baltimore counties.
Ms. Zepp was selected as a nominee for the Music & Arts Music Teacher of the Year award in 2018 and 2019, and the GT Educator Award in April 2016 and 2020. She was also selected as a finalist for the Howard County Music Educator Award in 2010, and was co-director for the inaugural Howard County Elementary Honors Band from 2010-2012.
Ms. Zepp has a 31 year old daughter, and lives in Columbia with her puppies Brio and Coda.
My daughter, Rachael.
